Patty and her family have just moved to a
new, smaller ranch, Juniper Ridge Ranch, in
Terrebonne, Oregon, just 25 miles north of Bend,
in Central Oregon. A new home with views of the
Cascade Mountains, Smith Rock State Park, and
their own private stretch of black rim rock will
give Patty the opportunity for a whole new
artistic adventure. Selling their ranch in North
Powder will allow her the opportunity to paint
full-time, and she will have access to the
growing art community of Central Oregon. Watch

space, as well as a completely new body of

Born in Caldwell, Idaho in 1961, Patricia was
raised in a ranching and rodeo family in Eastern
Oregon, graduating from high school in
Pendleton, Oregon. She received a Bachelor of
Fine Arts, magna cum laude, from the University
of New Mexico in Albuquerque where she studied
photography and creative writing. She emerged
from college ready to explore painting as her
primary creative outlet. She moved to New York
City where she spent nearly five years in the
East Village working to pay the rent, visiting
art galleries, dancing and learning to paint.
During a visit home to Eastern Oregon in 1987,
she fell in love with a potato farmer from
Southern Idaho and never returned to New York -
literally. Her sister packed up her few
belongings and shipped them west for her. Her
marriage to Gary Martin gave her the opportunity
to return to western life and to pursue another
passion - breeding, training and showing cutting
horses.
After marrying, they moved to a working cattle
ranch at the foot of the stunning Elkhorn
Mountains in Northeast Oregon. Life on the
ranch, with their son Miguel, allows them to
pursue their passion for cutting horses; and the
landscape, animals and people of the ranching
and cutting horse world provide Patty with
endless inspiration for her art.
Her paintings, filled with cowboy hats and
boots, horses and rodeos are fresh visual
interpretations of classic American and Western
themes.
